Allyson Barker ATTORNEY AT LAW

Allyson is an accomplished attorney and consummate professional who has an impressive résumé with a wide range of experiences in multiple State and Federal jurisdictions. She is an experienced trial lawyer, appellate lawyer, and civil and criminal litigator. Her wide range of professional experiences make her an especially knowledgeable resource for our firm’s other attorneys. She enjoys coming up with creative legal strategies to simultaneously prevail at trial and preserve unique legal issues for appeal. Above all, she believes in listening to her clients and understanding their perspectives so that she can best represent their interests and help them accomplish their goals.

Allyson has done criminal trial work for large public defense offices in both Seattle and Salt Lake City, as well as here in Kitsap County by appointment of the local office of public defense. She is qualified under the Washington Supreme Court’s Standards for Indigent Defense to handle all types of criminal charges including Class A felonies and charges involving potential life sentences without the possibility of parole (LWOP). She has tried multiple aggravated murder cases. She has clerked for a Supreme Court Justice at the Utah Supreme Court. She has represented corporations in land use and mineral rights cases and litigated in front of administrative tribunals. She has practiced civil law on behalf of mentally ill clients who were facing involuntary commitment under Washington’s Involuntary Treatment Act. And she has practiced criminal appellate law in Utah and Washington.

Throughout her two decades of experience, she has gained unique insight into how our legal system functions. She excels at handling cases with extensive discovery and complex legal issues, as well as expert witnesses and scientific forensic evidence. She is a sharp and creative litigator with exceptional critical thinking skills. In addition to taking criminal cases for our firm’s clients, she also provides federal criminal representation by appointment via the Criminal Justice Act (CJA) in the Federal District Court for the Western District of Washington, and civil representation by appointment of Washington State OPD for indigent criminal defendants who have been found not guilty by reason of insanity.
