CIVIL AND CRIMINAL APPEALS
If you’ve been convicted of a crime, or if you’re unhappy with an adverse ruling or judgment against you in a civil or family law case, we are here to help. Yelish, Barker & Cunningham’s Appellate Team has extensive experience handling matters before Washington State’s appellate courts, as well as appeals from courts of limited jurisdiction.
And before you appeal, there may be things we can still do to help in the trial court, or to seek to change the outcome of the adverse ruling or judgment. For example, we can file motions to arrest judgment, motions for new trials or mistrials, motions to withdraw pleas, motions for revision, or motions for reconsideration. If these win you can avoid an appeal altogether, but even if they don’t, they can help preserve important legal issues to increase your chances of success on appeal.
We also offer a range of other appellate services, including advisability of an appeal, preservation of error in the trial court, direct appeals and collateral attacks (such as habeas corpus petitions and personal restraint petitions).
In the event that you receive an adverse court decision or jury verdict, we have the background and experience to help you evaluate and prepare for your appeal.
